CANCER-RELATED FATIGUE - RESEARCH PROJECT - ONLINE
Research study of the University of Bern, Switzerland – Participants wanted.
Are you tired even though you sleep enough? Do you lose your strength even though you eat well? Are you exhausted, although you pay attention to your rhythm? Or is this impossible, because the daily tasks of life are already hard to cope with?
Cancer and cancer treatment can cause inner stress that paralyses normal life functions, makes us tired and makes it difficult to breathe freely. This is where the Institute for Complementary and Integrative Medicine, IKIM, at the University of Bern in Switzerland wants to find new ways and, after careful preliminary studies last autumn, is conducting research into online therapy for cancer-related fatigue.
In an eight-week online course, you will learn simple movement exercises that support the vitality and quality of life of people affected by cancer and fatigue. With small attention exercises in everyday life, their effect is additionally guided and strengthened.
All exercises are shown live, you stay at home in your familiar environment, and only do as much as is comfortable for you. If your mobility is limited or you get tired quickly, you can also do the exercises only partially or in a sitting position. During the week, we encourage you to repeat the short exercises from memory or with the help of small videos that we provide. If you are not feeling well, you can always take a break and join in again.
We start on Saturday 30 September 2023, at times that are ideal for Australia, East Asia and Europe. 11am British Summer Time BST, 6pm China Standard Time CST, 8pm Australian Eastern Standard Time AEST
Anyone suffering from cancer-related exhaustion (fatigue) who would like to join in is very welcome. All we ask is that you complete a short anonymous questionnaire at the beginning, after four weeks, at the end and 2 months after completion.
Based on our preliminary research, we expect promising results from this study on the management of cancer-related fatigue. We would therefore be delighted if you could help us to find test persons for what we consider to be an exciting and forward-looking research project, or if you would take part yourself.
Participation is free of charge.
Thank you very much for your attention.
